"Hanu Man," also known as "HanuMan," is an upcoming superhero movie in the Telugu language, helmed by writer-director Prasanth Varma and produced by Niranjan Reddy Kandagatla for Primeshow Entertainment. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Teja Sajja, Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty, and Vinay Rai. Set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, it serves as the inaugural chapter of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, paving the way for its sequel, "Adhira."
Scheduled for release on January 12, 2024, coinciding with Sankranti, "Hanu Man" marks Varma's fourth directorial venture, following his successful direction of "Zombie Reddy" in 2021. The announcement, made on May 29, 2021, aligning with Varma's birthday, introduced the film as the pioneering superhero flick in Telugu cinema.
In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Varma disclosed that the movie draws inspiration from the Hindu deity Hanuman. He explained the choice of title, stating that it pays homage to the widespread association of Hanuman with superpowers in Hinduism. In the film, the protagonist is named Hanu-Man as a nod to this revered figure in Hindu mythology.
