Rajini expressing his concern
Article posted on 05 July 2017Rajinikanth has voiced his concern over the ‘double taxation’ on Tamil cinema industry. He has request the state government to abolish the local body entertainment tax. He has tweeted, “Keeping in mind the livelihood of lakhs of people in the Tamil film industry, I sincerely request Tamilnadu government to seriously concider our plea.”
After GST hike, Tamilnadu government’s thirty percent local body tax has made Theater owners across Tamilnadu to shutdown indefinitely. The local body tax has created a tension within the Tamil film industry and Kamal Hassan has also released a statement comparing Tamilnadu to other southern states of India.
