Shahid Kapoor’s Udta Punjab has gone into a serious tangle of controversy, days before the release date. It all started when the makers took it to the censor board and was banned completely. But the producers has made the film somehow to pass the CBFC removing the complete reference of Punjab from it. The High Command has ordered the board to remove all the abusive language and scenes with substance abuse.
In overall, there were over 90 cuts and the story would be set in a no man’s land. Speaking about the same, a source close to the team reveal that the movie is a true reflection of the real Punjab but Punjab doesn't want to acknowledge them. The producers Balaji Motion Pictures & Phantom Films and director Abhishek Chaubey are working on a full swing so that they stick to the release date on June 17.
But few sources suggest that these last minute changes will delay the release date further to July month. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh, the title is also likely to be changed from Udta Punjab to Udta Tommy as Tommy is the character name of Shahid Kapoor in the film. With all these cuts and changes, still the movie will be given an ‘A’ certification.
