A.R.Rahman has recently worked for the movie ‘Mohammad: Messenger of God’, the story about the Prophet Mohammad that released in the beginning of September. It is actually the first part of the trilogy made by Majid Majidi in Iranian language. The movie was premiered in several Film Festivals before its theatrical release.
A Muslim Group running by the name of Raza Academy has issued this Fatwa against the music composer and the Iranian filmmaker. According to them, the movie is actually against the Islamic religious views that no visual image should be created about the Prophet. Those people have even approached the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to ban the screening of the movie in India.
They are also pleading all the Muslims to boycott the running of the movie in theatres. In fact, the title itself is objected by them to use their Prophet’s name in it. Rahman, Majid and other actors in the movie are also asked to apologise but they have not yet responded to the Fatwa call.
