The Marathi romantic film Sairat which had a good run at the box office is on cards to be remade in Hindi. This flick happens to be the highest grossing Marathi film ever to enter the 100 crore club for the first time. It has also been recognised nationwide by the movie critics for the flawless performance by the leading pair, Rinki and Akash.
Indeed it has attracted notable producers in other cine industry to buy its remake rights. There were reports rounding that it will be made in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi and news on the Hindi remake rights was not leaked until now. It’s none other than Karan Johar who had bought the official Hindi remake rights for the film.
His home banner Dharma Productions is set to re-make Sairat co-producing it with Zee Studios, the producers of the original version. The film is likely to roll out in next year with a fresh cast and crew members. We also hear that a popular director close to Karan will be helming this venture. The script writing works have already started and official confirmation from the horse's mouth is awaited shortly.
