It has been 50 years since the legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam set foot in the cine industry. Since 1965 he has contributed to South Indian movies in all the four languages as playback singer, actor, music director and even venturing as producer.
The awards he had bagged are enormous with 6 times National Award for Best Male Playback Singer, won the Guinness World Record for recording highest number of songs and he is also the recipient of the civilian awards like Padmashri and Padma Bhushan from Indian Government.
To add another feather to his hat, SPB is going to be honoured with the 'Centenary Award' from the Government of India at IFFI Goa for his outstanding contribution to cinema for 50 years. It was officially announced by the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu at a press conference.
The 47th International Film Festival of India is scheduled to commence from November 20 to November 28 at Goa and SPB is commended over there. The prestigious Film Fest has planned to screen notable films from 88 nations in these 8 days.
