Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali has been the best ever record breaker of 2015 and its sequel has started achieving feats before its release. The makers have sold the satellite rights for the Hindi version to Sony TV to an unimaginable amount of 51 crores. None of the Bollywood or any language films were sold for this whooping number.
It is also the highest amount a television network has paid for a dubbed movie in the history. The first installment of Baahubali has fetched 45 crores in the selling of the satellite rights. The overseas theatrical rights of 4 versions of Baahubali: The Conclusion in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi were also sold to Great India Films for again 45 crores.
Great India Films cover only the US and Canada screens and distribution in the rest of the countries will come up shortly. As for the local areas in Hyderabad like in Nizam, Asian Enterprises bought the theatrical rights for 50 crores for only the Telugu version. Summing up the pre release business tentatively, it amounts to 146 crores in a single deal. Lot more deals are yet to come in the forthcoming weeks for the one and only Tollywood’s magnum opus.
