Mahesh Babu's last outing Brahmotsavam has not done the expected business at the box office. Hence the actor had become much selective in his forthcoming projects with A.R.Murugadoss’s flick being his next. This film is as touted to be a bilingual made in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously becoming the first direct film for the Prince actor in Kollywood.

With all the rights things at place, the director had approached Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra to play Mahesh’s love lady thereby making her South Indian cinema debut. But looks like the actress had backed out at the last moment from the project. With no other choice left, they had roped in Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead. The reason for the sudden decision made by Parineeti is not revealed though.

Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet Singh make a good pair on screen and the team had done even a test shoot. The final negotiations are underway and the shooting will commence from August. Produced by Tagore Madhu, the filming will be done predominantly at Mumbai in a budget of 90 crores. The director's choice of music composer, Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to score the tunes.
