Manoj Bajpayee who is acclaimed for method acting and often called as a director’s actor has bagged an award to prove it. He is going to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his excellent performance in Aligarh. The biographical drama featured him & Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles and even received a standing ovation at the Busan International Film Festival.
He will be honoured with the Best Actor (Critic’s Choice) during the 147th Dadasaheb Phalke Jayanti on April 30 in a hotel at Mumbai. The announcement came as a gift for his 47th birthday. Many of his colleagues like Anurag Kashyap and Farah Khan were wishing him the best for his future endeavours.
Quite a long time for the actor to be recognised worldwide. He has also received many awards for the 64-year old controversial role in the film at both National and International level. The actor dedicates this honour to the real Ramachandra Siras who faced lots of struggle and passed away 6 years back. He also thanked the movie’s director Hansal Mehta for giving him such an opportunity.
