Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees just avoided the clash with a biggie, Salman Khan’s Sultan from the release during this Eid. The next big festival weekend happens to be Diwali on October 30. But it has now got into locking horns with another film, Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay.
Shivaay is the heart and soul for Ajay Devgn who had invested quite a big amount of budget in producing as well as directing and acting in it. The release date was long back fixed to be October 28 for Diwali and now SRK’s Raees has come to compete directly against it.
A similar event has happened in 2012 when Ajay’s Son of Sardaar clashed the box office with SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and the former faced a severe loss. There was even a court case held regarding the issue for Jab Tak Hai Jaan occupying the higher number of screens in which Ajay had lost.
This time Raees has no other go to say as all the festival days are already booked. The Independence Day has 2 major releases: Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro and Akshay Kumar’s Rustom.
Raees is not strong enough to stand against these 2 big films and hence left with no other option opted for Diwali release. However the movie’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani is still silent from making any official statements regarding this.
