Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Beginning is sure to be outrun by the sequel to it which is currently progressing in the shooting. While the first part was taken in 150 crores, the second part will involve up to double the budget, few sources say. The production and theatrical rights in Hindi was bought by the Dharma Production’s Karan Johar.
He had announced recently that Robot 2.0 will hit the screens on April 14, 2017 that happens to be Good Friday weekend of 3 days holiday. Also it is the Tamil New Year back in Kollywood and hence grossing multiple times of the investment is not a matter of talk.
On the other hand, making mega budget movies is always the passion for director Shankar to say and in the lines of his works, Robot 2.0 is a milestone with the Superstar himself in it. Having Akshay Kumar playing the antagonist in a science fiction will surely be a point of attraction for the Bollywood viewers.
Though not officially zeroed on the date, looks like Robot 2.0 will also release on the same weekend as Baahubali 2. But it will not be a direct clash as both the movies have their own set of audiences and also both are multilinguals. So there is still a chance to avoid the competition at the box office.
From the viewer’s point of view, it is a visual treat as we can witness 2 blockbusters in the same weekend. There is not even a slightest chance of missing one movie because of other as we have watched both the movie’s prequels and are in greatest desire to watch the second installments !!
