The most anticipated movie of the year Puli released on October 1 after many hurdles at the last minute. The reviews were not as good as expected and the critics were contrary. The morning shows that were cancelled affected its opening day collection and it made only 10.75 crores. The second day was marked with even more criticisms and the collection was thought to fall down.
Fortunately, the family audiences saved Puli as they had a flair towards the fantasy and the visual effects. This gave rise to 13 crores on day 2 and then 10 crores on day 3. In Kerala where Vijay was considered one among their favorite actor, 3.2 crores were grossed. While in Karnataka it was able to whoop up 4 crores and 10 crores overseas.
The collections total up to 35 crores in 3 days and is considered a good number despite many hindrances. Superstar Rajinikanth has appreciated the efforts the team has taken and said that he was awestruck with the visuals that are equivalent to Hollywood.
He also praised Vijay and Sridevi, who once upon a time paired with him for their smashing performance. Rajini has personally requested the family and children to watch Puli as it is made specially for them with all the elements.
