The 60 crore Uttama Villain faced a serious failure with a loss of 12 crores throughout India with 8 crores in Tamil Nadu due to the delay in release by one and half days. It managed to gross 21 crores finally but not made up to the mark in spite of raised expectations and Kamal’s exceptional performance.
But the hero has promised the filmmaker Thirrupathi Brothers, owned by Lingusamy that he will compensate for the loss by making a short budget movie. Recently the word is that the distribution rights of Thoonga Vanam will be sold to the former production house to repay for the loss.
Thoonga Vanam as funded by Raaj Kamal Entertainment which is holded by Kamal will be wrapping up the shooting by August 4 and get kick-start its post-production works to hit the theatres on Diwali.
