good film
Story: A successful writer, Ayesha (Sudha Chandran) visits a doctor as she suffers from repeated bouts of stress. As therapy, the doctor asks her to share her life story. This is when she reveals her painful past mixed with love and suffering that takes place in the form of a flashback. Review: While the movie is based on the short story titled 'The Gift of the Magi' by American short story writer O'Henry, it fails to convey any of the excitement or wonder of its original source. An extremely slow-paced film, 'A Gift Of Love: Sifar' suffers from a flawed screenplay, unconvincing performances and a wafer-thin plot. The only strong element in this film are the dialogues given that there's a smattering of Mirza Ghalib's fine poetry. The lead pair comprising musician-turned-actress Kanika Kapoor, who plays a young Ayesha, and Varun Narula, as Daniyal, lack any real chemistry which is quite necessary for a romantic film. The music makes this slow-paced film seem all the more unhurried to the point that you lose interest. A speedy narrative could have salvaged this film. But for now, this is a gift that's best left unwrapped.
