Swara Bhaskar's bold, colourful and perfectly nuanced performance brings oodles of respect to Anarkali Of Aarah. She elevates the level of the film. Her character is that of a happy and witty singing and dancing girl. She's also a sad girl dealing with the past and then she’s also resolute in her defiance to the man's world. She's so good you could equate her to Tabu in Chandni Bar or even Smita Patil in Bhoomika.

Anaarkali Of Aarah takes a cue from last year’s Pink and takes the discussion forward. Kirti Kulhari said she was soliciting in the court because she thought this shouldn’t affect the verdict. It was about contacting or trying to contact physical relationship with the victim without her consent. But they were educated, somewhat resourceful women.

With Anar, Swara Bhaskar gets a role worthy of her. The film uses lines and situations involving crudity but never turns vulgar. Nowhere does Anaarkali of Aarah makes you cringe, and that’s a real achievement.
