Happy Bhag Jayegi Movie Review

Happy Bhag Jayegi is a fresh, light-hearted take on cross-border camaraderie that revolves around a runaway bride. It lures you into throwing logic out of the window ('baher') for a while as it offers clean entertainment with ample gags. The cat and mouse game between the characters, with a dash of romance, forms the story.
Too few laughs, too much mess

While I appreciate the jingoism-free setting, Happy Bhag Jayegi's creativity has the texture of a well-meaning school play, where kids generate excitement by reacting excessively to any situation or yelping at the top of their voice. What's cute there seems daft here. Such a pity, especially when the actors flanking Happy are so talented and endearing to watch. If Happy Bhag Jayegi succeeds in delivering a few laughs, it's entirely to their credit.

Diana Penty was last seen in her debut film Cocktail. With Happy Bhag Jayegi, the actress attempts to play the feisty Punjabi girl Happy. Quite contrasting to her previous role, Penty has put efforts for this role and it is quite evident. She does not come off as convincing enough but I’d still laud her efforts to take that up. Happy Bhag Jayegi is a breezy entertainer that has its moments.
Diana Penty and Abhay Deol's film is an inoffensive entertainer

Happy Bhag Jayegi is an inoffensive family entertainer. If you don't like your history with flying crocodiles or with patriotism forced down the throat, this inconspicuous film might appeal to you.

As far as the performances go, as the film's title rightly suggests, HAPPY BHAG JAYEGI totally placed on the shoulders of the extremely talented Diana Penty, who returns to the silver screen after a long gap. On the whole, HAPPY BHAG JAYEGI comes across as a feel good film that will make you happy.

Fortunately, the love angles were wrapped up in a sensible manner. There was no drama and that was a relief. This is no laugh riot, but Happy Bhaag Jayegi has its glorious moments. Reserve this for a one-time watch.

This Diana Penty, Abhay Deol film is good for a few laughs but then falls victim to weak writing and never realises its full potential.

Diana Penty, in only her second Bollywood outing, tries hard to pass off an earthy, sprightly Punjabi girl. Hers is an uneven performance. She doesn't exactly run away with the film.
