Gripping tale

'Madaari' narrates you a gripping tale with mind-blowing performance by Irrfan Khan along with a good dosage of emotions. The lack of freshness hampers the film in a big way, but nevertheless it’s a decent film for all those who love good cinema.
Great message and writing save the film

There are certain moments in the first half of Madaari that are both powerful and subtle. Even though the second half barely manages to scrape through, this film on the broad and capable shoulders of Irrfan Khan manages to deliver the right punch. This Madaari will have your dormant nationalism and parental emotions dancing out with thundering effect. The message here is loud and clear.
Madaari Movie Review

Madaari is a fabulous film as far as performance is concerned, however, in terms of story and script the film becomes predictable since similar issues were dealt in the B Town with one of them using Irrfan in the center stage. So, many a times, the film was seen becoming predictable that overtook with performance that kept things par. The rating has much to do with the performance of Irrfan Khan, which makes Madaari to his film.
Well-intentioned but...

It is not a film that will stay with you as you, in your day to day routine, succumb to the pressure and become part of the corruption that ails our system. Unfortunately, the well-intentioned Madaari fails to make it to that space in our hearts.
An emotional movie with slow-paced narration.

When there is a brand ‘Rajinikanth’ associated with a movie, it’s precisely going to be the major attraction, irrespective of what the genre of how the treatment of this film is. He is a genius! No Doubt! In every frame, you can keep admiring his body language and gestures. During the first 8 minutes of this film, he just leaves you speechless with mind-boggling attitude.
'Madaari' is raw and real

The mystery in the Nishikant Kamat directorial venture isn’t nail-biting, but Irrfan Khan manages to keep you intrigued.
Irrfan Khan is TERRIFIC in this average social thriller!

The film suffers from predictability, and scenes keep on dragging aimlessly, especially the ones showing Nirmal’s past. Madaari may have its heart in the right place, but an average direction and flawed narrative let down the movie’s honest intentions. Watch it only for a terrific Irrfan Khan!
Irrfan, Jimmy are wasted in this snail-paced vigilante drama

Madaari crumbles under its own lofty ideals and ambition. The slow pace makes the fall even more painful and enduring. And that it had two brilliant actors in Irrfan and Jimmy, who were grossly under-used, only adds to injury.
Madaari has nothing new to offer

Madaari is a lost cause. The story in spite of having potential, fails at execution and thanks to its dramatic discourse, shifts away from its focus.

Madaari is obviously all about rustling up the latter scenario, but it does not deliver the expected thrills consistently enough to count as a humdinger. The film leaves several questions unanswered. For one, it is difficult to fathom why on earth a Mumbai resident who has lost a dear one picks on Union home minister Prashant Goswami (Tushar Dalvi), an affable gentleman who forgoes the trappings of his high office.
On the whole MADAARI comes across as a thriller which holds your attention only in parts.

Trailing Irrfan Khan on a close second is Jimmy Sheirgill, who, yet again, does a decent and commendable job with his character in the film. A special mention goes to the talented child artist Vishesh Bansal, who holds his own despite Irrfan Khan being his co-star. The other actors do a decent job.
Irrfan Khan brings his best game to the table in this predictable tale!

As for the performances, Irrfan brings his best game to the table. Watch him portray helplessness and hopelessness by employing a range of emotions (He keeps the spectrum wide and shifts between the extremes with remarkable ease). Tushar Dalvi as the Home Minister has done justice to his role and Jimmy Shergil has once again proved why he becomes an inseparable part of the movies that matter!
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A COMMON MAN

However, more than its social relevance, the highlight of Madaari is Irrfan's awe-inspiring performance. His portrayal of a single father, torn between loss and revenge brings a lump to your throat. He moves you to tears, in that spectacularly heartbreaking hospital scene, which will go down in movie history as one of the finest tragic moments. You feel his anger, pain and guilt. Jimmy Sheirgill, once again plays the honest good cop and fits in perfectly.
